As Change for Change’s first Canadian Chapter, students at McGill University in Montreal joined the network in 2010, addressing the issue of youth homelessness and crisis assistance in their campus community.

To fund the training of women artistans to be entrepreneurs.

The mission of Artistri Sud is to empower women artisans in developing countries to fight poverty and build better lives by capitalizing on their existing craft skills and cultural assets.  By developing their capacity, they help women create sustainable livelihoods for themselves.  Greater financial autonomy and the ability to generate their own income empowers them to extert a positive influence in their families and their communities.

Share the Warmth

purpose

To sponsor at-risk teenagers who are running in Share the Warmth's charity challenge marathon, to support their youth programs.

Share the Warmth’s mission is to awaken hopes and dreams by overcoming hunger and poverty. Their mission is lived out in schools, with youth and in the community by providing food, school supplies, youth groups, tutoring, scholarships and music for youth, a food bank, a second-hand shop, work programs and more.

purpose

To purchase food for homeless Montreal residents

Highlights

  • Raised $1,100 during first semester through bake sales, a FIFA tournament, Trick or Treat for Change, Starbucks sales, and their partnership with Peace Treats.
  • Held two bar night fundraisers.
  • Raised $795 through their Annual Kilometer of Coin Event.

Refuge des Jeunes de Montreal

purpose

To purchase food for homeless Montreal residents

description

The mission of Refuge des Jeunes de Montreal is to provide aid to young men in difficult situations aged between 17-24 years old, and to provide better living conditions.  The organization houses up to 45 individuals per night, and reaches out to 641 individuals per year - catering to both immediate needs (beds and food) and long term provision of social services (access to the labor market). 

Highlights

  • Collected change through a Krispy Kreme / Starbucks fundraiser, and a fraternity social event.
  •  Lined the front driveway of McGill University (247 meters) with donated coins - an event titled "250m of Coin," collecting $1146 for Refuge des Jeunes de Montreal.
