MBA PROJECT MANAGER INTERNSHIP – SPRING OR SUMMER 2014


Change for Change is a national non-profit organization that empowers young adult leaders to improve their communities through philanthropy.


Change for Change has a unique concept based on the idea that small change – the extra coins lying around under couch cushions, in coat pockets, and in desk drawers – can be used to make positive changes in our communities. We believe that that if everyone contributed spare change to a charitable cause, together, all of this small change will result in big changes. 


Change for Change currently operates via a Chapter network, with students and young professionals in high schools, on college campuses, and in select cities collecting loose change and larger offline donations from friends, colleagues, and community members throughout the year. Chapters then donate these funds to local non-profit organizations of their choice. Founded in 1999 at The University of Pennsylvania, Change for Change has supported more than 20 local Chapters and has raised over $200,000 for more than 40 charities.


Change for Change will be re-launching in 2014 by bringing its mission and model online. To enhance its current programming, the new Change for Change initiative will leverage email, web, mobile, and social media to enable donors of all ages to support compelling, high impact community projects via small online contributions. Change for Change will feature project-based donation opportunities with compelling content and photography -- and donors will be able to see tangible outcomes associated with their contributions. In order to test and refine this new model prior to launch, Change for Change will run a pilot program in New York City in the summer of 2014. 


Change for Change is looking for New York City based MBA Project Manager Intern who is driven, responsible, outgoing, creative, detail-oriented and passionate to lead this pilot. You'll work directly with the Change for Change Founder and CEO and other senior team members to oversee the program from start to finish.


Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Source, screen, and select meaningful non-profit beneficiaries and projects.
  • Source content on each non-profit partner and project, overseeing contractors and liaising with non-profit staff as necessary.
  • Build an email list of potential donors, working with partner organizations as needed to ensure a large target donor base.
  • Oversee website development to support the campaign, hiring and overseeing contractors as necessary.
  • Write, edit, and disseminate emails and social media posts to share donation opportunities.
  • Ensure accurate collection and disbursement of donations to selected charities.
  • Communicate outcomes to participating non-profits and other stakeholders.

 

Qualifications

  • Graduate student or other young professional who is an entrepreneurial-minded self-starter.
  • Strong project management skills, with an ability to set goals, develop and execute communications and marketing strategies, meet deadlines, and evaluate results.
  • Exceptional written and communication skills, with experience in content and graphic design.
  • Great eye for UX/UI, with interests in technology and well-designed online content.
  • Strong relationship builder and networker, with an ability to build effective partnerships and collaborations.
  • Analytical mindset, and familiar with the concept of A/B testing.
  • Experience with email marketing tools (e.g., MailChimp), website building tools, Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop a plus.
  • Position is located in New York City.

 

Timeframe
Start date: Immediate
End date: August 2014, with potential for extension based on the success of the pilot program.
