 The chapter had its first go-round in the 2004-2005 academic year. The program had been sponsored by two campus groups at Emory. The Interfraternity Council an Intersorority Council made Change for Change their official fundraising vehicle for Emory's Miracle Marathon, an all day 12 hour event on February 19, 2005. The event raised money for the Children's Miracle Network and the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. All members of Emory's 13 fraternities and 11 sororities received cups to collect change. Collection sites were at fraternity houses, sorority lodges, and the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life.
Emory's club sports division of Recreational Services also participated in Change for Change. All 500 members of the 20 club sports collected change to donate to the Decatur branch of the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Atlanta.
