UC Green |
| UC Green, a community-based "greening" project modeled after Penn's UC Brite lighting initiative, brings together Penn, the public schools and neighborhood groups in a unique collaboration to plan and develop a variety of programs to sustain and enhance the natural environment in University City. The initial focus of UC Green has been on the neighborhood's numerous vacant lots, distressed parks and residential blocks in need of improvements, using community and institutional resources to create short- and long-term improvement programs. The American Red Cross |
| The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers, guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, provides relief to victims of disasters helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. Responsible for over half of the nation's blood supply and blood products, The American Red Cross also gives health and safety training to the public and provides emergency social services to U.S. military members and their families. University City Hospitality Coalition (UCHC) |
| UCHC is an organization of students, faculty, homeless volunteers, and local residents that work together to help the homeless in West Philadelphia. UCHC runs a soup kitchen that serves five dinners (Mon-Fri) and two lunches (Sat-Sun) weekly. UCHC also operates a referral service and a clothing distribution service. UCHC provides a mailing address for homeless people so that they can vote and receive benefits (mental, dental, and legal). UCHC works with a social worker from Horizon House to find shelter for homeless people. (Academic year 2000-2001) |

St. Mary's Family Respite Center |
| St. Mary's respite care is provided in the form of a day care center. Through providing care to children in families affected by HIV/AIDS, St. Mary's offers families free time to do necessary things (e.g. doctors visits, shopping). Daycare is provided four days a week: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. (Academic year 2000-2001) |

Parents and Children Against Drugs (PACAD) |
| PACAD works to provide innovative solutions to the many complex problems facing families in its communities. Through programs in community health outreach, after-school tutoring, summer camps and employment, and numerous other initiatives, PACAD seeks to develop leadership among youth and adults in the community.
