Program History

Change for Change established a New York City chapter in February 2006 targeting young professionals.  Under the leadership of Talia Zapolanski and Daniella Yacobovsky, the program's mission is similar to that of its collegiate counterparts but with a focus on youth-related philanthropic organizations.  The chapter aims to promote education, health, recreation and community through affiliations with select New York-based charities.

In order to recognize its mission, Change for Change New York will sponsor events throughout the year to promote philanthropic involvement and giving.  The group will host both fundraising events as well as activity-based functions, which will allow members to not only support charitable organizations through financial donations but also enable interested members to become more actively involved with philanthropic organizations of their choosing.

In addition to the vast networks of people the organization will have access to through its steering committee, currently comprised of over 20 individuals from various backgrounds, Change for Change will also benefit from its established network of members through its college campus chapters.  Hundreds of graduates from these universities have since relocated to New York City and the launch of this initiative will benefit from the name recognition and familiarity that currently exists in the city.

The chapter has raised over $35,000 across its first three events for charitable causes and raised $20,000 to lanch the Change for Change Changemakers Grant Program.
