Change for Change established a New York City chapter in February 2006 targeting young professionals. The program's mission was similar to that of its collegiate counterparts but with a focus on youth-related philanthropic organizations. Change for Change NYC sponsored events throughout the year to promote philanthropic involvement, giving, and awareness for local causes. The group hosted fundraising events, rotating the beneficiaries of each event and seeking to make the events accessible and affordable -- consistent with Change for Change's broader focus on small change causing big changes.
The chapter raised over $55,000 across its first four events for charitable causes and raised $20,000 to benefit Change for Change's own programming.
In 2009, Change for Change NYC was refocused to host event-based fundraisers that support Change for Change's own ambitious growth plans. Change for Change NYC is building on its past successes to engage the next generation of philanthropists in NYC. |
