The UMD Change for Change chapter is thrilled to announce the results of its change collection campaign, raising $2,400 for victims of the South Asia Earthquake. To raise these funds, the chapter held a month-long change collection drive along with monthly community service outings.
Change for Change also decided to hold a club competition called the "Change for Change Charity Cha-Ching" to help raise even more money for the earthquake victims. This is a competition between student organizations on campus to see who can raise the most money for the victims. The organization that raisesd the most money was awarded with a honorary plaque, pizza party and congratulations over the WUMD radio and The Michigan Journal.
To assist in the effort, Change for Change got several local businesses to set up jars in their stores to collect donations for the victims. Read about the event in The Michigan Journal here.
During the spring of 2006, the chapter participated in eyeglass drives to benefit Unite for Sight as well. |
