Program Overview

Change for Change® is a national network of young adults who are improving communities through philanthropy. Through our Chapter network, college students and young professionals are raising funds for community charities through the collection of loose change and larger donations.

Chapter participants:

  • Learn about charitable giving and the outcomes that can be achieved
  • Plan fundraising events
  • Select non-profit beneficiaries that meet Chapter goals
  • Collect and donate charitable contributions
  • Evaluate outcomes and impacts of charitable donations

Chapters receive numerous tools from the national office, including:

  • Program planning, implementation, and evaluation tools
  • Fundraising tools (e.g. collection cups, stickers)
  • Document templates (e.g. flyers, press release)
  • Membership in our Chapter mentoring network
  • Access to a proprietary online Portal
  • Up to 40 hours of consultation annually from an experienced national office.

What makes a good Chapter

On campus
Chapters could be new groups OR run as a program of an existing group such as student governments, fraternities/sororities, community service offices, or class project teams.

In workplaces
Analyst programs or service project teams make great Chapter sponsors.

In the community
Young adult groups, professional associations, and other young adult associations make good Chapters.

How it Works

Change for Change has developed a 5-stage process to work with Chapters.

Potential Chapters complete the Recruitment and Orientation stages prior to the establishment of a Chapter. At the conclusion of the Orientation stage, the National Office will make the final determination regarding the desirability and feasibility of a Chapter. Chapters must be reaffirm their membership in the Change for Change network each year (July 1-June 30). Only accepted Chapters may use the “Change for Change” name.

5-Stage Process
  • Recruitment (Potential Chapters):
    • Email us and tell us about your program idea to turn loose change into meaningful change in your community.
  • Orientation (Potential Chapters):
    • Learn more about the program including roles, responsibilities, necessary tasks, required resources, and charity selection process.
    • Complete a Readiness Assessment to determine readiness to move forward.
    • The National Office will make a final determination regarding the desirability and feasibility of a Chapter. Accepted Chapters are invited to sign a Chapter Agreement Form containing specific obligations and assurances.
  • Planning/Training (Accepted Chapters):
    • Complete a Workplan to finalize your project plan, goals, and benchmarks to ensure your program is a success.
    • Receive up to 40 hours of mentorship on everything from partnerships, press, funding, financial management -- as well as provide networking opportunities with other chapters and experts to share best practices.
    • Research, select, and interact with charities with the support of helpful tools and guidance.
  • Implementation (Accepted Chapters):
    • Hold your fundraising event with guidance from Change for Change (e.g., collecting and processing donations, making the donation to your selected charity).
    • Receive key tools including collection containers, document templates, and promotional materials.
  • Evaluation (Accepted Chapters):
    • Evaluate outputs, outcomes, and your donation's impact.
