VisionSmall change can lead to big changes. Change for Change is based on the idea that if everyone contributed spare change to a charitable cause, together all of this small change could result in big changes.
Mission
The mission of Change for Change is to develop the next generation of philanthropists by engaging young adults in charitable giving programs.
Goals
Change for Change is committed to achieving the following goals.
Program - Change for Change Chapters
Change for Change® is a national network of young adults who are improving communities through philanthropy. Through our Chapter network, college students and young professionals are raising funds for community charities through the collection of loose change and larger donations.

Outcomes
Change for Change is creating a sustainable infrastructure for young adult charitable giving with three key outcomes.
Impact
Our Chapters have completed their 2008-2009 fundraising programs. Below are the program highlights and community impacts.
Amherst College. Amherst has hosted a Chapter since 2001, donating over $20,000 to local community charities. College athletes rally support for selected charities, going door-to-door in residence halls to collect voluntary contributions of loose change. $1,200 in donations to Not Bread Alone, a community soup kitchen, enabled the non-profit to replace a broken freezer and purchase desperately needed kitchen supplies to make preparing meals easier and more efficient.
University of Arizona. Students started a Chapter in 2009 to raise funds for a new cultural and education center in Guanajuato, Mexico. Students and staff have been visiting this community for the last fifteen years, and the $1,300 raised through dorm collections, car washes, and bake sales funded a portion of the construction and completion of the center's first floor.
J.P. Morgan. Investment Bank Summer Analysts ran a Chapter as a class philanthropy project. These rising college seniors had first-hand knowledge of the importance of career training skills -- and felt passionate about ensuring that all New Yorkers have access to these resources. The leadership team selected as a beneficiary The Hope Program, helping low-income New Yorkers find, keep, and grow careers. The Chapter raised over $5,000 in donations.
NYU School of Medicine. Even with busy schedules, the leadership team at NYUSoM donated over $1,000 to two notable charities -- the NYC Free Clinic, New York's only comprehensive free healthcare clinic where many NYUSoM students volunteer, and Grand Central Neighborhood, providing services including food, social services, emergency housing, and job placement to homeless New Yorkers.
University of Pennsylvania. Over 300 students in April and May collected nearly $500 in loose change donations for Alex's Lemonade Stand, dedicated to finding a cure for childhood cancer.
Credit Suisse. Employees at Credit Suisse donated over $600 in loose change contributions to The Family Center, creating a more secure present and future for children whose parents have a life-threatening illness. Over 100 employees in the Private Banking USA division collected contributions in February and March. Credit Suisse has a close relationship with The Family Center, and Change for Change is just one of the many ways that employees support this important cause.
Fordham Law School. These future lawyers selected the Urban Justice Center as its 2009 beneficiary. The Chapter collected loose change contributions in a Penny Wars event held March 30 – April 1. The three law school classes competed to see which class could raise the most money for UJC, with approximately 300 students making contributions totaling over $300. |
